THE TRAINING MATRIX
Licensing Act (Scotland) 2005

Scottish licensing law has changed dramatically. Now, to continue trading from 1 September 2009, all premises will require a premises licence which must nominate a premises manager, who must hold a personal licence.

Applications for personal licences can be made now and will be valid for 10 years. However, all staff who serve alcohol must be properly trained by 1 September 2009.

Note that personal licences issued in Scotland are not valid in England and Wales and vice versa. English licensing law has a number of significant differences in its operation.
